The debate on Reimagining Public Finance continues…

The Reimagining Public Finance Initiative has won many praises, but also a healthy dose of criticism.

Those who attended our Global Conference in late September (in person or virtually) will remember the lively exchanges that followed remarks by Marc Robinson and Richard Allen, for example. Both of them published interesting critiques of the initiative, here and here.

In a recent post on the IMF’s PFM Blog Tim Williamson, Jordi Baños-Rovira and I engage with some of these concerns trying to explain why we think they are misplaced, and to clarify what the approach we are proposing is about.
